Deidra Rader

Deidra Rader hails from Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is her second season with Coastal and she’s excited to be taking on the 18 Gold Team, teaming up with Bob Arnette and Lihi Elkayam to help some of Tidewater’s All-Stars reach their goals of playing at the collegiate level.

Last season with Coastal, she took her 13 Blue team to the USAV Nationals in Atlanta (one of two teams from Coastal that earned a bid), finishing 38th in the nation.
This last fall, she took the position of Head Coach at Nansemond River High School in Suffolk. The Lady Warriors earned their first bid to the district tournament in 15 years and even won their first match of the tournament by upsetting Western Branch, ending the season tied for third place in the Southeastern District.
Deidra attended Union High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she was garnered with All-State accolades and led the team to the State Championship match her senior year.   She was also chosen to be part of the Jim Thorpe All-Star Basketball Team her senior year after the school’s first appearance in the State Tournament in years.
She went on to play at Oral Roberts University her freshman year before deciding to focus on her studies, but volleyball wasn’t far from her heart.   This opened the door for her to start coaching at Club ONE and Booker T. Washington High School during college where she found a passion for coaching. Her degree in Broadcast Journalism may not have a direct correlation to coaching, but she attributes those communication skills as part of her success.
When not coaching, Deidra is a property manager, real estate investor and home stager. She also likes to stay brushed-up on her German by Skyping with relatives in Germany.
Her husband Daniel is a Nuclear Engineering Officer on the USS EISENHOWER and they live in Norfolk with their three cats.
