MAROON Becomes the ODR's First ALL AMERICAN!

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 31st annual AVCA Division I All-America Teams for women's volleyball on Wednesday and senior libero Kim Maroon (a 2008 CVVC Graduate) was selected to the third team.

Maroon is the first player in Villanova history to be named an All-American. In 2009 she was an honorable mention All-America selection. She is just one of two players from the BIG EAST selected to an All-America squad. Louisville's Lola Arslanbekova was also a third team selection.
"Kim has been an incredibly hard working player and it really showed on the court," head coach Josh Steinbach said. "This award puts the icing on her career and I am very proud of her. She has set a standard for defense at Villanova and in the BIG EAST that future players will be measured by."
The award caps off a stellar career for Maroon at Villanova. This season she set an NCAA record for digs in a set with 6.87 and set a BIG EAST single season record in digs with 749. Maroon earned the BIG EAST Libero of the Year award for the second consecutive year and was also named first team All-BIG EAST. She recorded 20 matches with 20 or more digs and had 40+ digs on three occasions. Maroon is the first Villanova player to reach 2,000 career digs after notching her 2,000 on Oct. 2.

Fluidity Physical Therapy Partners with Coastal

Jennifer is the owner and primary therapist of Fluidity Physical Therapy. She received her undergraduate degree in kinesiology and a Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During her time at Wisconsin Jennifer was also a member of the University of Wisconsin-Madison track & field team in which she received All-American honors. Today she continues to have a special passion for helping the athlete.  Opened since 2008, Fluidity brings comprehensive and more advanced care to the athlete.  By providing a unique combination of sport specific exercises with integrative manual therapy along with  implementation of  yoga-based/postural restoration exercises, we can keep the athlete healthy as well as get the injured athlete back to the field faster than ever before.  Treating the typical (ie. ACL tear, shoulder dislocation) to the atypical (ie. post-concussion) as well as networking with other health care providers (ie. nutritionists), we have seen the athlete get back in half the amount time.
Jennifer still competes and continues to support athletic teams in the Hampton Roads area through guest speaking (topics ranging from nutrition to injury prevention) as well as working with & supporting teams through their season.  She is excited to join the Coastal Volleyball family and looks forward to a great season!
