MAROON Becomes the ODR's First ALL AMERICAN!

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 31st annual AVCA Division I All-America Teams for women's volleyball on Wednesday and senior libero Kim Maroon (a 2008 CVVC Graduate) was selected to the third team.

Maroon is the first player in Villanova history to be named an All-American. In 2009 she was an honorable mention All-America selection. She is just one of two players from the BIG EAST selected to an All-America squad. Louisville's Lola Arslanbekova was also a third team selection.
"Kim has been an incredibly hard working player and it really showed on the court," head coach Josh Steinbach said. "This award puts the icing on her career and I am very proud of her. She has set a standard for defense at Villanova and in the BIG EAST that future players will be measured by."
The award caps off a stellar career for Maroon at Villanova. This season she set an NCAA record for digs in a set with 6.87 and set a BIG EAST single season record in digs with 749. Maroon earned the BIG EAST Libero of the Year award for the second consecutive year and was also named first team All-BIG EAST. She recorded 20 matches with 20 or more digs and had 40+ digs on three occasions. Maroon is the first Villanova player to reach 2,000 career digs after notching her 2,000 on Oct. 2.

WHAT IS THE CSA?

The Coastal Setters Academy
Started in 2011, this program offered Coastal participants, who will be the clubs future setters, sessions to develop their skill outside of their regualr team practices.  It forced the technical training and the amount of touches needed to be successful in this position.

CVVC plans on holding the CSA again this season and will post something when these sessions are to begin.  All athletes playing the setting position within CVVC are encouraged to attend, if you are not a designed setter but would like to attend email Coach Albaugh.

This camp is free to all participants and will be a total focus on the setter position where training will include areas such as hand/wrist releases, footwork for setting, leadership skills, as well as other important aspects.
